Thankfully the snow has melted and it’s nice out so I could make the upcycled flow through worm bin. The base is half of the bed frame left out for scrap by my neighbour and the sides are from a solid wood side board the previous owners of my house left in the shed. Cardboard added over the bottom to stop the initial worms and bedding falling out. I haven’t put any worms in yet as I added the food straight from the freezer so I’ll let it defrost before adding worms

The worms that will be moving in to here have just finished a winter of turning a patch of grass in to a casting covered no-dig bed. Now that growing season is coming i need to uncover that bed and let it warm up a bit. The worms have done such a great job, it’s filled with rich castings, there’s no grass left, and I didn’t have to buy in compost to start it!

There’s still some unfinished cardboard in there which I’ll move in to the bin. Not much food left at all. Their last feed was in January just to give them enough to last until the end of their time in this bed
