@marcrr they don't care, it's some poor suckered associate editor who's under pressure to get the paper approved or rejected quickly.
@Etche_homo I'm aware but it's the publisher whose role it is to improve the system, so it's them I call it. Also IMO the AE doesn't have to bow to this pressure; I resigned from all editorial roles at for profit journals in 2018 and it was a great decision. I don't think anyone is serving the academic community by editing at a journal which is neither non profit nor society run.
@marcrr it's food for thought but I'd tend to agree and have a similar resignation on my list.
