I thought pointing out that Inkscape 1.4.1 wasn't getting released would cause more of a stir. I guess people are quite kind to our project and patient. Anyway, video for this week:

I don't understand why some print shops ask for sRGB source documents *without* providing a gamut limiting icc profile so you can see what the hell you are doing.
I get taking in sRGB files for non-vector printing. But without that gamut limiter you're guessing what kind of gamut narrowing will happen so you should still have access to an icc profile.
At least, in my opinion as a self-made expert
dunno who needs this
edit: added PNG and SVG to the #InternetArchive

Really fun commission for CJ and Lumi! I think I need to catch up on the Lumiverse lore
made in #inkscape
Thanks! Solved! :D
Any #Inkscape wizards out there who can explain to me like I'm maximum 5 years old why I'm allowed to move the files in layer 1 where ever I want, but all other layers are only visible where I did the clip, and if I move them they are not visible?
And most important: how to change this so I can move any file anywhere.
I have done the exact same thing to all layers. The order of the layers in the list of layers does not matter. As you can see, Layer 1 is not on top.
Just built the capypdf #inkscape branch by @doctormo and it resolves an issue around layer blending I had during export. Awesome!
The only thing that's stopping me from using this right now is that the filter rasterization seems to be stuck at 96DPI.
So I started a monthly liberapay donation to make sure the work can make it into main. And then more awesome stuff like the CMYK work. Thank you Martin!
Sketch of stained glass windows for decorating a city bus stop. This is the fourth bus stop I am decorating by order of the city hall. The working title of this work is “Winter Forest”. For #PortfolioDay
Christmas came early this year! MacStadium is significantly increasing their investment into Open Source with a new sponsorship agreement that provides #Inkscape with access to their Orka cluster solution. I've had my onboarding today and spent some time playing with my fancy new toys. Exciting!
Help wanted!
#Inkscape community member @dopelover recently contributed a set of shortcuts that mimics that of #Illustrator CC 2024, but it needs a larger userbase to test it before merging.
If you're (or you know someone) familiar with Illustrator, please go to the forum page and follow the instructions to get the new keyboard shortcuts file for testing there:
https://inkscape.org/forums/inks-news/help-test-the-new-illustrator-compatible-shortcuts/
Thanks for your testing!
OK that's basically done... I had to refactor #inkscape's test suite so it could test the new cmyk output properly and in doing so found a way to have cmake test things with proper fixtures, and have much better and more consistent testing scripts.
Let's hope the merge request review is kind...
#inkscape's test suite thinks a 12dpi PDF should have a few hundred pixels per inch. While my new CMYK PDF code thinks there should be 14 blocks in this 1.25 inch tall reference file.
Which is right? The DPI setting for PDF export must have been broken for a long time if the test suite has been wrong since 2020-10-28 (I know because it's in the reference PDF file when it was created)
