#NASA's #Curiosityrover has detected the largest organic molecules ever found on #Mars -- decane, undecane, and dodecane -- suggesting that complex prebiotic chemistry may have occurred in the planet's ancient lakebeds. These compounds, which are made up of 10, 11, and 12 carbons, respectively, are thought to be the fragments of #fattyacids that were preserved in the sample. Fatty acids are among the organic molecules that on Earth are chemical building blocks of life.

I find the search for the evidence of life fascinating. It just comes down to chemistry and eliminating all other possibilities. Painstaking work that takes years with the technology we have, but it seems they are getting closer to proving we are not unique in the Universe, and maybe that revelation will help us.
