Day twelve 🎃🪨

“Donald Trump says he has ambitions to compete with #Australia on coal production after signing executive orders designating the #FossilFuel as a #mineral and vowing to reinvigorate an industry that is in steep decline. …

During a rambling one-hour speech that spanned illegal immigration from Africa, Germany’s wind industry and energy challenges in California, Trump also specifically referenced Australia’s #CoalTrade with #China.

‘We have more coal than any other country. You go to Australia, they have fantastic amounts of coal. You know who they sell it to?’ he asked several dozen hard hat-wearing coal miners in the #WhiteHouse.

‘China. They sell it to China. They’re nearby. They sell a lot of it to China. But we have more than anywhere else on earth. We also have more liquid gold than anywhere on earth. So we’re really an #energy behemoth, but we’re unleashing that also.’”

Energy Resources. We should see some response by either party as to their Environmental and Climate policies by what is and isn’t said.

America is addicted to filthy fossil fuels and is trashing its environment to feed that addiction rather than switching away to renewables like the rest of the world.

Solar and wind are way way cheaper than shunting toxic tar sands oil thousands of kilometres.

There is no hope for America though, with Trump deciding that child killing, planet frying coal is the way to go for America.

Day eleven: ☢️💧

“About 90% of the #nuclear generation capacity the #Coalition proposes to build would not have access to enough water to run safely, according to a report commissioned by #LiberalsAgainstNuclear.

The report authored by Prof. #AndrewCampbell, a visiting fellow at the Australian National University (#ANU) , assessed nuclear energy’s #water needs and the available #supply across the seven sites where the Coalition has proposed new reactors.”

“Well done Angus”

If you remember the member for #Hume is insisting the Federal Government if the #LNP wins election will purchase, run and make a profit using nuclear power.

No mention of locations of power generation sites (I assume existing sites) nor is there any mention of #geological, #enviromental or #NuclearWaste disposal studies.

The Guardian · Not enough water available for Coalition’s nuclear proposal to run safely, report findsBy Petra Stock

Last year marked a historic and deeply troubling threshold: for the first time, global temperatures exceeded 1.5C above pre-industrial levels. Without drastic and immediate climate action, this breach will not be temporary. The consequences – rising sea levels, extreme weather and devastating loss of biodiversity – are no longer projections for the distant future. They are happening now, affecting millions of lives, and likely to cause trillions in damages in decades to come.

Quote by GCN:
"Apr 6, 2025
There’s a major problem with the way our roads and traffic systems are designed—one that’s being overlooked at an enormous cost. The core idea behind how we build our roads, and by extension our towns, cities, and landscapes, is outdated and deeply flawed. What exactly are junk roads? Why have we invested billions, possibly trillions, into them? Si Richardson is on a mission to expose the truth behind the roads we've accepted without question. 🛣️"

“I think we need to take a wider European view. There's no point saying a cap at Dublin is great for European emissions. It just moves emissions to other airports and also the jobs and the airlines and the economic contribution that goes with it."
Kenny Jacobs, CEO Dublin Airport Authority (ex Ryanair)

It’s a shame that he’s so close to making a good argument for EU wide measures to reduce aviation emissions.
