I decided to look up mentions of Davisville (what Davis used to be called).

Due to the research I've done on carob's CA history, I'm a little familiar with the wrangling that happened over where UC campuses would be located. However, it was in regard to another campus.

This is my introduction to what was involved in "The University Farm" selection.

I could easily spend all day reading vintage newspapers, particularly the reader letters to the Pacific Rural Press.

I love agricultural/horticultural history.

@ml I grew up in the area and never knew it used to be Davisville. What year is this from?

@ronpar First one is 1906, then 1907.

@ml there
was a big stink here because the previous government hadn’t renewed funding for the federal library’s digitised newspaper collection Trove. Historians and genealogists lobbied hard and got it reversed. So glad because it’s a goldmine

@MartinStoermer Yeah, I love what I've seen of Trove.
