Over the weekend I made a quick trip to my hometown on the coast of Maine and spent some time barefoot in the sand and tide pools. My magical place growing up, a magical place still.

Looking straight down on seawater seeping through and creating sunken trickles in the sand. The sand is very fine and it is low tide. The seeping water creates shapes in the sand, the top one resembling an alligator with its mouth open.
Looking straight down at some of the many small shells and ocean debris that has washed up at low tide. The plant materials are mainly tan and green colored grasslike reeds. The shells are mostly white and the size of large thumb nails. There are also a few gelatinous plants.
Looking down at a thin layer of seawater as it has collected between the tide and the beach. It is not flowing, rather just sitting. The fine sand makes interesting patterns and the whole pool resembles an archeological layer carefully brushed off in rock.
